Ludwig-Maximilians University Munich (LMU) has more than 30 years of experience and expertise in a range of areas, from laboratory research on the underlying physical and biological mechanisms to clinical application and approval studies for patient care. The GlioLighT group’s expertise spans various companies and medical departments, including neurosurgery. LMU will support the project with regard to light dosimetry and light/PDT-induced effects on biological cells and tissue in vitro and in vivo.
Meet our Researchers
Ronald Sroka is the head of the Laser Research Laboratory (LFL) at the Laser and Immunology Research Facilities (LIFE) Center at the University Hospital of Munich. He is engaged in the research and development of fluorescence diagnosis, photodynamic therapy and laser surgery focusing on the translational technical implementation into the clinics. Ronald is the general secretary of the German Society of Laser Medicine (DGLM e.V.), an executive member of the ELA, and an adjunct professor and advisory board member of the Institute of Photomedicine Tongji-University Shanghai.
In the GlioLighT project, Ronald supervises the LMU team's work on in vitro therapeutic validation, including extensive tissue-mimicking phantom studies. Through their work, the team refines the therapy as much as possible before it ever reaches animal testing, as well as providing in-depth analyses of simulated human environments to ensure DLT is as safe as possible.
Krishna Prasad Subedi is a doctoral researcher at the Laser Research Laboratory (LFL), University Hospital Munich. As an E4D scholar, he earned a Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) in Medical Physics from ETH Zurich. His research focusses on advancing oncological photomedicine, with a strong emphasis on photodynamic therapy (PDT), direct light therapy (DLT), and radiation therapy, driving innovation in cancer treatment.
