In September 2026, the GlioLighT team hosted an educational workshop at the Vinca Institute of Nuclear Sciences (VINS) for their staff and students. The workshop was a great success, with presentations ranging from tumour biology to laser applications in medicine, presenting a diverse picture of the challenges of and opportunities for treating cancers with light-based therapies.

You can view the presentations given on our Resources page.

Meanwhile, downstairs in the lab, our in vivo and in vitro researchers Matilde Negrini, PhD (University of Barcelona) and Sophie Gieß (Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz) were working on setting up the VINS team for their in vitro and in vivo experiments.

The VINS team tried out the project approaches to glioma treatment in cell culture and mouse models through a hands-on scientific workshop session, exchanging expertise between the institutions and supporting VINS in strengthening their singlet oxygen research. Their work continued on this morning with spheroid preparation, setting up the VINS team for their next set of experiments.

Following straight on from the workshop, the GlioLighT team had a consortium meeting in the VINS facility, discussing our progress and upcoming plans. We’re looking forward to our next steps!
